When

June 12, 2025
7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Bestselling children’s book author Kate Hannigan researches and writes about fascinating women from history. For this presentation, she’ll focus on women from Illinois, including Josephine Cochrane, inventor of the dishwasher; Mrs. O’Leary, scapegoat for the Great Chicago Fire; and Kate Warne, pioneering female detective who helped thwart a plot to assassinate Abraham Lincoln!

Hannigan’s visit is co-sponsored by the White Oak Public Library – Lockport Branch, which will host an afternoon presentation in which Hannigan discusses her children’s book, Blips on a Screen, a biography of Ralph Baer, the Jewish refugee who invented Pong and pioneered home video games. You can find out more about that event at their website: Blips on a Screen with Kate Hannigan

Register today and enjoy an evening of history, conversation, and community at the Gaylord Building!
